About the role
Nhost is a remote-first company. While prior experience working remotely isn't required, we are looking for engineers who perform well given a high level of independence and autonomy. In this role you'll own the infrastructure that every Nhost project runs on: a multi-account, multi-region AWS platform. Your work directly shapes the reliability, security, and cost profile of the entire product. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of application development.
What will you do?
- Design, build, and operate our multi-account, multi-region AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Terragrunt
- Run and evolve our EKS clusters and the platform layer on top of them: autoscaling with Karpenter, networking with Cilium, ingress, and DNS automation
- Keep every tenant workload (PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Auth, Storage, Functions) healthy, isolated, and fast
- Strengthen our observability stack (Victoria Metrics, Grafana, alerting) so problems are found before customers notice them
- Automate infrastructure operations and build internal tooling, mostly in Go
- Drive reliability, security, and cost efficiency across the platform
- Participate in incident response and turn every incident into a systemic fix
What are we looking for?
- 4+ years of relevant experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure
- Deep experience running Kubernetes in production, including cluster upgrades, autoscaling, and networking
- Strong AWS experience (EKS, VPC, IAM, Route53, RDS, S3)
- Experience with infrastructure as code, preferably Terraform (Terragrunt is a plus)
- Comfortable writing code for automation and tooling (preferably with Go)
- Comfortable using AI coding tools and agents as part of your everyday workflow
- Excellent communication skills
Nice to haves
- BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or relevant field
- Experience operating multi-tenant platforms or developer/BaaS products
- Experience with Cilium, Karpenter, or Victoria Metrics
- Experience running PostgreSQL at scale
- Experience with CDNs and edge networks (Fastly, Cloudflare)
- Familiarity with Nix
